Memberships
A membership is a person's role in your organization. It controls what they can do in the developer portal and in the developer-plane API endpoints. It says nothing about what they can do on Wefunder itself, which is governed by their own company and syndicate roles.
Roles
| Role | Manage apps, keys, webhooks, installations | Manage the organization and its members |
|---|---|---|
owner | Yes | Yes |
admin | Yes | Yes |
developer | Yes | No |
member | No | No |
investor | No | No |
Only owners and admins can invite or remove members and rename the organization. Members and investors are non-managing roles used for teammates who need to be listed without portal access.
Where roles matter in the API
Developer-plane endpoints check for a managing role in addition to the OAuth scope. Today that is the webhook endpoints API: a user who authorized your app with write:webhooks but holds no managing role in your organization receives 403 forbidden_role.
Inviting a teammate
Owners and admins invite by email from the portal. An invited teammate needs no waitlist approval: the invitation is the grant. Membership changes are audited.
